Bulgaria to host Iran toon ‘This Side, Other Side’

Iranian acclaimed animation ‘This Side, Other Side’ has been selected to attend the International Animation Film Festival (IAFF)- Golden Kuker Sofia, Bulgaria.

Directed by Lida Fazli, the short animation will be attending screening at the main competition section of the 11th edition of the film event.

‘This Side, Other Side’ shows how the children of two opposite sides of a border cherish each other’s company, regardless of the fact that their countries are burning in the fire of a war that the adults have brought upon them.

Fazli, earlier in an exclusive interview, told ifilm her animation means to show when it comes to children’s amity and friendship, no amount of borders or wars can come in between. The animation has the message of peace.

The Animage International film festival in Brazil, the Smile International Film Festival for Children & Youth in India, the IFVA Awards in China and the Termeh Iranian Cultural Festival in Germany are some of the international events that the short has already attended.

It will also soon take part at two other global fests which are the Hong Kong Kid’s Int’l Film Festival in China and the Int’l Festival of Animated Film “Constantine’s Gold Coin” in Serbia.

Launched in 2010 in Sofia, the Golden Kuker is the first animation film festival in Bulgaria. The fest is a platform to showcase the best of global and Bulgarian animations aiming at promoting the creativity of this art.

The event holds every year in the month of May. However, this year other the pandemic of COVID-19, the event has been postponed and it will hold on September 1-6, 2020.
